Our forever, to yours- Nathan and Honey Lou: Your engagement proposal: tips & guides

Multimedia platforms are all over the place. No one can live nowadays without their respective facebook, twitter, or instagram accounts. It’s considered as a part of our daily routine now and bad news grooms, your wife-to-be is an avid fan of sweet, unique, and voluptuous proposals. She will always compare herself to those “lucky” girls and mind you, during her astounding noisy/silent days, she was waiting for you to do the same! My wife was no different so last December 17, 2015 I decided to make her dream into reality. But before i take you to my “proposal-proper” experience, let me put emphasis on some points that will help you out on your planned proposal as listed below:

1. Surprise. Your proposal will not be a proposal without the element of surprise. Believe it or not, its not the grandeur of your spectacle but the way you made her believe that its not a day for you to propose. That’s why your circle of friends plays a vital role here. You should make it appear like there is nothing out of the ordinary going on. Don’t make her lose that momentum of “waiting” for your proposal otherwise, you will blow the entire plan.

2. Venue. It plays a crucial role but of course it depends on you and your wife-to-be’s personality. You might both want a crowded place, a private place, or a little bit of both. You must know and consider your venue since you are suppose to do something with utmost sincerity.She must feel you specially when you pop that big question. If not, chances are, she might think twice!

3.Try something not you. Successful proposals usually tries something different from who you are to her. What i basically mean here is that do something she was not expecting you doing. This is a very effective way of making her feel that you are far more than ready to do “everything” (excluding those which are out of your comfort zone) for her.If you are a guitar player, try to do a dance number and the likes.

4. Only the trusted. Accidents happen. Beware. Only speak to those whom you have full trust regarding the plan. Unfortunately, there are those people who, even unintentionally makes her suspect that something is going to happen. We don’t want that to happen. (Refer back to number 1)

5. Believe in your plan. I know you are already sick of hearing this but still, we need to go back to basic. The first person who should know that your plan will be a success is you and nobody else! Bear in mind that there is no perfect plan (aside from His plan) so be ready with oppression physically, mentally and emotionally. You should know from within you that your plan will work because you love her and you want to spend the rest of your life with her.

6. It’s the sincerity. The only rule of thumb for all proposals. You should deliver that message of sincerity because after this, there is no going back. Don’t forget that men propose because we are already decided, prepared, and ready for the next stage. And if you still have doubts on yourself and on your relationship, please don’t waste everybody’s time! Proposals are rated on your sincerity and not on the size of the ring nor the amount you are willing to spend. What matter here is your sincerity which will in turn make them say the magic word “YES”!

7. Documentation. This is where you should put that investment in (aside from the engagement ring). You should be able to find someone who is a pro. Enough that will make your video and photos worthwhile. This is something that you can treasure for the rest of your life so don’t be shy and put that dollars in!

Those were the tips that we can share based on our experience. Now as promised, i will share you how i did mine. Me and my friends had a little more than a week to prepare. Venue was done in a rooftop building of my friends place where me and wife use to go before. She knows that i was doing overtime in my office with my boss and ill meet her there and let one of my friend pick her up. We are total 7 guys who made things happen. We designed the rooftop with lights and balloons and flowers and all its accolades. And the moment she opened the door, i was there waiting with a bouquet of flowers. I made it simple yet she felt the effort and sincerity. She seemed to have no other choice but to say yes (grins)! Below are some photos and the link to our video proposal.
